How We Operate
Data center infrastructure used to be bought in sequence: secure a site, bring in power, design the facility, then fit the compute inside it. Each step had its own firms and its own timeline, and that worked when racks drew 30 kilowatts of air-cooled compute.
AI-scale deployment collapses that sequence. Power availability now decides where capacity can exist and when. At 100 kilowatts per rack and above, the cooling architecture, the power distribution, and the compute inside the rack have to be settled together and early, or the site is built around assumptions that no longer hold.
Critical Systems Infrastructure advises across that whole sequence. We help operators define what they need and evaluate the sites and capacity that can deliver it. We work alongside power, capital, and construction partners on the path to energization. And we bring the right cooling and critical power technologies into the design while it is still open.
The value is not any single product or site. It is keeping capacity, power, and critical systems decisions aligned from the start, rather than reconciled later at the operator's expense.
Our role
Critical Systems Infrastructure is not the developer, the utility, the OEM, or the engineer of record. Our role is to understand the requirement, identify where the right options and technologies are, and bring the right partners into the conversation at the point they change the outcome.
Leadership
Charles J. Bachmann
President & CEO
Charles brings two decades of enterprise technology and data center sales leadership to Critical Systems Infrastructure. His career spans cloud and colocation services, data management and industrial IoT software, and most recently the go-to-market build-out for two-phase direct-to-chip liquid cooling — where he developed partner ecosystems spanning MEP engineering firms, manufacturer representatives, and modular builders, and supported reference architecture work across powered land sites and high-density deployments.
He founded Critical Systems Infrastructure to work the full infrastructure conversation: aligning the operators who need capacity, the partners who deliver power and facilities, and the manufacturers building the critical systems inside them. He holds an MBA from Carthage College and a business degree from Loyola University Chicago.
